Self-driving cars will begin testing in Tucson

Tucson, Arizona. (KGUN) — Pony.ai has announced plans to test self-driving cars with safety drivers in Tucson.

“We are delighted to welcome Pony.ai to Tucson as the next site for their autonomous vehicle pilot,” said Tucson Mayor Regina Romero. “Our city is known as a hub for innovation and smart technology, and now we have a unique opportunity to partner with Pony.ai to test new technologies that can help us create safer streets.”

The company will partner with Pima Community College and have a location in the Center for Automotive Technology and Innovation on its downtown campus.
